Some new music

New Found Glory and Sugarcult (two alternative/pop-punk bands)have released CDs within the past week. I just bought both CDs today and am happy to hear these bands evolve from their earlier work. It seems that both bands have incorporated some 80s rock sound into their discography (and I am not talking crappy 80s music like Oingo Boingo stuff, but just plain rock with great guitar elements). Each CD is currently up for stream, so if you are interested you can check out their newest tunes at www.purevolume.com/newfoundglory and www.flashenhanced.com/sugarcult. Enjoy!

Interesting finish

The end of Major League Baseball's regular season is just 13 games away. And it may just take all thirteen games to decide who is the AL central champions for 2006. The Tigers, who are only up one game on the Twins for the Division title, will start a three game set against the White Sox, who are currently five games back. This series will be one of the biggest series of the year for both teams, twins included. Depending on the outcome, the White sox could find themselves within two games of the division by the end of the week, or sink out of contension by getting sweeped, setting themselves 8 games back. It's essentially do or die this week for the White Sox. Additional information regarding this key series can be found here

Liriano Returns

Francisco Liriano (12-3) returns to the mound this afternoon to play the series finale against Oakland pitcher Dan Haren (13-11). Liriano, who recently went on the DL for soarness in the elbow of his pitching arm, looks to re-energize the Twins pitching staff as they continue on their race to the post season. Liriano will be limited to only 60 pitches, Matt Garza will be availabe as a back up. The Twins currently are 2.5 games ahead of the Chicago White Sox for the wildcard and 1.5 games behind Detroit for the AL Central title. The complete story can be found at mlb.com

Awesome website that brings back memories

Hey everyone,
I found this unique website where you can find commericials, cartoon intros, movie trailors and information from three eras: 70s, 80's and 90s. Check out the commericals for cereal from the 80's, they are sure to bring back some memories. Check it out! retrojunk.com

Great weekend for sports

What a great weekend to be both a Twins and Hawkeye fan. I got to see the Twins capture a superb series victory over the Detroit Tigers to pull within just two games of the AL central title. Santana pitched a gem this sunday and it seems that the offense has found a some momentum once again. I am also anxious to see Liriano's return to the mound next week against Oakland. I also found yesterday's Iowa-Syracuse game to be a little more than what I had bargained for. Without Tate in the lineup, it almost seemed to be too much to watch at times...(example--Manson throwing four interceptions). The defensive stand in the second overtime was probably the best I've seen for a while, even if it was against a team searching to end a 10 game losing streak. Overall, it was good to see two teams play such dramatic games in such a short span, I only believe it will get better from here on. Music Podcast

If you are interested in hearing some new indie/pop/punk/rock music you can listen to Mark Hoppus' (Blink-182, Plus 44) newest podcast. The podcasts are featured on www.himynameismark.com, and were one of the first podcast associated with the Apple corporation. The podcasts typically consist of interviews with up and coming indie-label artists, comical information, and more information on worthless facts than one wishes to know. These podcasts are bi-weekly and run for approximately 20 minutes.
This weeks podcast is approximately one hour. The link I am attaching gives an extended summary of what the podcast is about, and also features a direct link to the download. himynameismarkpodcast

The Iowa Hawkeyes (no. 14 AP) will hit the road to play unranked Syracuse this saturday in attempt to win their second game of the season.
